Our first playoff game was against a tough contender that we nearly lost to when we played them during the season. We won, but that changed our bracket since they were slated to win.

What I didn’t know was that our next game was supposed to be officiated by Sasha. I also didn’t know this was still a problem.

Sasha

Deep down, I knew this would happen. I simply knew I’d be slated to officiate Carter’s team, and I refused to do it. Carl was away on vacation, and somebody was standing in and didn’t know what the deal was. As soon as he won and it was put on the schedule, I knew. The problem was that I made an enemy out of the Commissioner. Somehow, he got wind that I switched games, and the man decided to get the stupid union involved and mentioned it in a press conference during the pre-game interview.

“The playoffs are a time for people to step up to the plate. The challengers take the court and may the best team win. We are excited to have the best of the best talent in the ACD and ICA league. We will continue to thrive no matter what challenges we are faced with. Including the misguided and misrepresented way, the league has been portrayed against women. We value everyone in this league, no matter creed, race, religion or gender. What we don’t value is the prima donna mentality that we pick to choose when we work and when we don’t. This is the playoffs, assignments are given, and if not adhered to, there will be consequences. On every level of the organization. We strive to continue to get better, and accountability for our actions ensures our success. May the best teams win and good luck.”

Christine was blowing up my phone during the entire show, telling me to watch it and commenting on what was said. It was also the same time, the union reached out requesting a formal meeting about my failure to appear for work.

The entire situation was so confusing because my schedule switched. It was then I realized they had basically set up a counterattack against me. I watched The Tigers game, and they lost, but they still had a pass.

When Carter came home that night, he was in no mood to hear my woes. He was in another mood that required sexual healing that was hard and rough. I gladly signed up for that and held him as I knew he took those losses hard. My man was passionate and even in the midst of the loss, he did not lose his shit. He was pacing and yelling at his players, but not name calling, just regular coach stuff. But not once did he scream at an official.

Growth.

Just when I thought he was sleep, his voice cut through the darkness, “Move in, Sasha. We’re building here. I want a family, kids and all of that shit. I want you.”

Apparently, I inhaled, but never exhaled, because I was stuck.
